The Child, Youth, & School Services Sports and Fitness Programs are for children ages 5 through 18. Child participating in the program must either be a family member of active duty military personnel, retired military personnel, or a DOD civilian in Hawaii. Programs offered are continuously changing and improving to meet the needs of today’s youth. Our communities, youth, and parents have an active voice in planning developing and implementing innovative age appropriate programs.

Current Programs and Activities
Youth Sports Home School Swim Lessons: Youth aged 3-18. The cost is $30, for 4 lessons at 30 minutes each. Registration period was from April 24-May 18. Swim lessons are held at AMR Fitness Center Pool. Swim lessons will run May 19-June 9. For Level 1 swim lessons are held from 11:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m. Level 2 swim lesson are held from 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Level 3 swim lessons are from 12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m. If parents were unable to attend the swim assessment, once they have registered and paid; they need to show up 15 minutes prior to the level 1 assessment on May 19 so their youth can be evaluated and placed into the correct swim level. Youth Sports Mini Flag Football: For youth born in the years 2010-2011. Registration is June 1-June 30. The season runs from July 23-Sep 10. This is a parent and youth participation program. This program meets once a week. Thurs from 5:00p.m.-6:00p.m. Cost is $20. Youth and parent receive a t-shirt. Youth receive a football. Come out and love to learn a new sport.
Youth Sports Mini Olympic Day: on June 23 at 9:00a.m-12:00 p.m. Youth Sports will be hosting our Mini Olympic Day at Schofield Barracks Bennett Youth Center. Youth Sports will host various activities such as: 2 step dodge ball, capture the flag, relay races, obstacle course and soccer. Youth will be awarded with medals and the winning center will receive a trophy. All School Age Centers will be participating in Olympic Day. We will have a special appearance by Keala O’Sullivan an Olympic Diver. If you have any questions please call Brittany on AMR at 836-1923.
Youth Sports Soccer Clinic: On June 27 at 9:00 a.m. at Watts Field off of A-Road on Schofield Barracks. Youth Sports will be hosting their annual soccer clinic. This clinic is a great way to get our youth ready to play soccer for the season and give our coaches hands on training with experienced soccer coaches. There will be various stations to help players work on their foot movement, ball control, and teamwork. Come out and try to bend it like Beckham.
Youth Sports Flag Football Registration: For the youth born 1999-2010. Registration is July 1-July 31. The season runs from Sept. 29-Dec 19. Please ensure when the parents register they have complete CYS registration paperwork, Youth Sports registration paperwork, up to date shot record, physical to last through the season, and birth certificate. Youth Sports Cheerleading Registration: For the youth born 1999-2010. Registration is July 1-July 31. The season runs from Sept. 29-Dec 19. Please ensure when the parents register they have complete CYS registration paperwork, Youth Sports registration paperwork, up to date shot record, physical to last through the season, and birth certificate. The cost is $55 if you do not have a cheer uniform from previous seasons. Or the cost is $20 if you do have a cheer uniform from the previous seasons.
Youth Sports Soccer-Youth Soccer season will be underway. Practices begin on July 7. Practices are held Tuesday-Friday from the hours of 5 p.m.-6 p.m. or 6 p.m.-7p .m. Practices for AMR/Ft. Shafter are held on AMR soccer fields. For SB/HMR/Wheeler practices are held on Watts’s field. For any questions in regards to the season please contact AMR/Ft. Youth Sports Soccer Opening Day:Youth Sports is hosting their annual soccer opening day on July 25 at 9:00 a.m. on Watts Field located off of A-Road on Schofield Barracks. We will have a guest speaker. Once opening day concludes our soccer games will start.
Youth Sports Summer Fun Weeks: AMR Youth Sports will be visiting AMR and Ft. Shafter School Age Centers as well as AMR and Ft. Shafter Teen Centers during the month of July. AMR Youth Sports has planned 3 weeks of Summer Fun Camps for each facility. Going from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. July 7-July 10 AMR Youth Sports partner with AMR and Ft. Shafter Teen Centers in events such as: Hiking, Hickam Beach, bowling, and AMR Pool.July 14-July 17 AMR and Ft. Shafter SAC will partner in similar events. July 21-July 24 AMR YS will partner with AMR SAC doing similar events as well.
