2015 Excellence in Youth Sports Award Winner

excellence-in-youth-awardFor more than a decade, the Excellence in Youth Sports Awards has recognized programs that are doing superior jobs of conducting diverse activities with a focus on providing safe and positive experiences for all participants - including children, parents and coaches. Each year hundreds of youth sports programs across the country and military bases worldwide vie to be an award winner. Developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports and Athletic Business Magazine, the first Excellence in Youth Sports Awards were presented in 2000.

CYS Services Youth Sports

The Child, Youth, & School Services Sports and Fitness Programs are for children ages 5 through 18. Child participating in the program must either be a family member of active duty military personnel, retired military personnel, or a DOD civilian in Hawaii. Programs offered are continuously changing and improving to meet the needs of today’s youth. Our communities, youth, and parents have an active voice in planning developing and implementing innovative age appropriate programs.

Current Programs and Activities

Youth Sports and Fitness is looking for Officials, Referees, and Umps: Youth Sports is looking for anybody in our military community who is interested in officiating in our youth sports programs. We are currently looking for officials for Soccer seasons. For further information please call AMR Youth Sports on 836-1923 or Schofield Barracks on 655-6465.

Youth Sports and Fitness Soccer, Flag Football, and Cheerleading Volunteers -Youth Sports and Fitness is looking for volunteers to help coach all upcoming sports listed above. Practices are two nights a week from 5-6pm or 6-7pm. If interested please contact AMR/Ft. Shafter/Camp Smith on 836-1923 or SB/WAF/HMR on 655-6465.

Youth Sports and Fitness Soccer Registration - Youth Sports and Fitness open registration for Soccer will run April 1-April 29. For youth born 2000-2011. The cost is $55. Please ensure when registering they have complete CYS registration paperwork, Youth Sports registration paperwork, up to date shot record & physical that last through the season. If parent’s registering do not have up to date and completed paperwork with registration they will not be able to sign their youth up until all requirements have been met. Youth Sports and Fitness AMR Home School Sessions - AMR Youth Sports has a Home School program. Home School will not have class on April 5 or 26 due to PT in the Park/Gym. Home school is held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12p.m. Children and youth aged 4-16 are invited to come. Youth Sports will provide fitness activities such as basketball, croquet, flag football, etc. Health and Fitness activities such as 4-H Health Rocks, Hiking Trails, and bullying. This program is Free to our AMR/Ft. Shafter/ Camp Smith Home School Community. Home School participants must register with the AMR registration office. For all questions regarding registration please contact 833-5393. All questions regarding the program please contact Brittany at 836-1923 in the AMR Sports office.

Youth Sports and Fitness Schofield Barracks Home School Sessions - Schofield Barracks Youth Sports has a Home School program. Home School will be every Tuesday 11:30 a.m.-12:30p.m. Home School will not have class on April 5 or 26 due to PT in the Park/Gym. Children and youth aged 5-16 are invited to come. Youth Sports will provide fitness activities such as basketball, croquet, flag football, etc. This program is Free to our SB/HMR/WAF Home School Community. Home School participants must register with the SB registration office. For all questions regarding registration please contact 655-5314. All questions regarding this program please contact Eville at 655-6465.

Youth Sports and Fitness PT in the Park - For Month of the Military Child; YS&F will host their annual PT in the Park. PT in the Park is April 5, 2016. PT in the Park gives military members and their children and youth a chance to work out together before going to school or work. This event will be held at the School Age Center on Schofield Barracks off of Lyman Road. All participants must start arriving by 0600 for the event to start promptly at 0630. The event will run from 0630-0730. All children/youth participating will receive a free t-shirt and breakfast. There will be various special guest such as Elmo, Elsa, Olaf, Dora the Explore, Captain America, and many more. This event is Free to our military community! Youth Sports and Fitness EFMP Gru’s Minion Games - For Month of the Military Child; YS&F, ACS, and Ft. Shafter Bowling Alley are hosting their first ever Gru’s Minion Games for Month of the Military Child. This event is for our EFMP families. Our families will be able to bowl and receive dinner at no cost to them. This event is April 12, 2016 starting at 5 p.m. in the Ft. Shafter Bowling Alley. PT in the Gym gives military members and their children and youth a chance to work out together before going to school or work. This event will be held at the Ft. Shafter Fitness Center in the main gymnasium. All participants must start arriving by 0600 for the event to start promptly at 0630. The event will run from 0630-0730. Youth Sports and Fitness Baseball Opening Day - YS&F will host their annual Baseball Opening Day on April 30 at Castle Park on Schofield Barracks; off of A-Road. Baseball Opening Day will start at 9 a.m. Once the ceremonies have concluded baseball games will begin. Any questions or concerns please call 655-6465 or 836-1923.
